Legal - contracts, review, and e-signature

Legal generates contracts from a template library, reviews any document for risk with AI, and lets a counterparty sign it right in the browser - all built in, with no third-party e-signature service to set up.

Templates

Pick a template and fill in the details:

• Mutual NDA - for exploratory discussions before a deal is signed
• Master Services Agreement - the umbrella agreement for an ongoing services relationship
• Statement of Work - a single project's scope, timeline, and price
• Engagement Letter - a simple, one-off engagement without a full services agreement
• Privacy Policy and Terms of Service - for your own website or product

Fill in a counterparty's details by hand, or pick one from your CRM if you also run Sales - their name and contact information are filled in automatically.

Review

Run a review on any document and get:

• A plain-language summary of what it says
• Risks flagged by severity - an unusual liability cap, a one-sided term, anything worth a second look
• Missing clauses - standard protections you'd expect for this kind of document that aren't there
• A redline showing exactly what changed since the document was generated

Review uses AI when your plan includes a hosted AI allowance; otherwise it falls back to a straightforward check for standard clauses, clearly labeled as such. Either way, this is not a substitute for a lawyer - Legal says so plainly whenever something looks like it needs one.

Signing

Add one or more signers by name and email, then send. Each signer gets their own private link (emailed automatically when your account has an email provider connected, otherwise you can send the link yourself) where they can:

• Read the document
• Sign by typing their name or drawing a signature
• Decline, with an optional reason

Every view and signature is time-stamped and recorded with the signer's IP address, so a completed document comes with a full audit trail. Once every signer has signed, the document is marked complete.

Renewals

Set a renewal term (in months) on a signed document and Legal tracks its expiry, sending a reminder as the date approaches so nothing lapses without notice.

The Legal department

Attach a Legal department to a company (Settings > Sites > Company) and it works on its own schedule: reviewing anything that comes in, drafting from the template library on request, and flagging renewals coming due. Drafting and reviewing happen automatically in either mode; sending a document out for signature is always something you approve first, until you switch the department to fully autonomous.
