Teams: inviting & roles

Updated Sep 15, 2026

A team gives everyone shared workspaces, one invoice, and admin controls over what agents in your organization are allowed to do.

Creating a team

Starting a team from Settings gives you a 14-day trial automatically, so you can invite people and try governance before paying for seats. Seats come from your Teams subscription; adding or removing a person adjusts your seat count.

Inviting people

Invite by email, individually or in bulk. An invitation can be resent or revoked before it's accepted, and (on Enterprise) you can restrict sign-in to a Google Workspace domain so only people with a matching email can ever join.

Roles

Every member has a role that determines what they can do:

RoleCan do
OwnerEverything, including billing, transferring ownership, and removing the org itself
AdminManage members, policy, budgets and everything day-to-day except billing and ownership
MemberUse the team's shared agents, storage and gateway within the policy admins have set
Billing adminManage the subscription and seats without other admin access
Policy adminManage governance policy without other admin access
ViewerRead-only access to what the team shares

Guest memberships (Enterprise) give someone time-limited access that expires automatically, useful for a contractor or an external collaborator.
