Mail lays out a classic three pane mail client - folders, message list, reading pane, and a full compose/reply/forward flow - that behaves like a real client from open to send.
It is honest about what it is: there is no SMTP or IMAP behind it. "Sending" a message files it in your local Sent folder, and the UI says so wherever you might reasonably wonder, so nothing you type ever leaves the browser.
Folders, threading and search all work the way a real inbox's do, so filing and finding a message feels like using mail you already know, not a stripped-down mock of one.
Because nothing is sent over the network, there is nothing to configure and nothing that can leak: every message you write stays in your own browser's storage, filed the same way a real inbox would file it.
